Add Comment On Tues, Aug 23, 2011, Pre K & Kindergarten enjoyed a story teller. Sharing tales of adventures and pirates. Rick Mikula, aka. The Butterfly Guy, came to camp. He shared with us the different types of species, ways to catch them, ways to prolong their life as well as how a butterfly works. He taught us the different between moths and butterflies as well as helped understand some of the false myths about butterflies. Rick is one of the worlds best experts on butterflies, having published multiple books. He has worked with Hollywood movies, has been featured in multiple magazines including People magazine. Rick really gave us an incite on the butterfly and how unique they really are. http://butterflyrick.com/ On Thursday, August 4th, Camp had a professional game show come visit. Each child from 2nd to 10th grade got a turn to participate in the game. The campers had to push the buzzer and answer the questions to receive points. Once getting the answer correct the campers then had to do the correct dance to the music played. Lots of Fun... and paying attention in school really helped those who knew their stuff. On Tuesday, Aug 2nd Camp Curiosity hosted Kids on Wheels. All the students at Camp Curiosity got to roller blade around the hockey ring. We did the limbo and we learned the proper way to skate and fall down. On Tuesday, Seth Franco, a Harlem Globetrotter came to Camp. Seth showed us some neat drills and skills that he learned to help him become a great ball handler. He showed us neat tricks and how to spin a ball on our fingers. Seth Franco has played for The Court Jesters, The Harlem Wizards, and in 2003 became the first Caucasian Harlem Globetrotter since 1942! His long time dream of playing basketball was almost cut short through a leg injury, where he was told he would not be able to play basketball ever again. Through hard work and rehabilitation, a small two years later, his dream came true by being able to play for the Harlem Globetrotters. |
