Miss Peggy began at the Toddler Center in May of 2012 as an Infant Room Instructor and has been a terrific addition to our youngest program. She has a Bachelor of Art in Sociology and Psychology from Concordia College in Bronxville, NY. Peggy worked as the manager at Chestnut Hill Inn on the Delaware River for 15 years, was the secretary and organist for her church for 13 years, and supervised the church’s Sunday school program for 8 years, ranging in ages from infants to preschool. Peggy has been playing the piano since her childhood and has been teaching private lessons to children and adults of all ages for over 22 years. She raised three boys into fine gentlemen with children of their own.
Young Toddler Program
Miss Danielle joined Curiosity in 2010 as a Teacher’s Assistant in our Toddler Program. In her years here at Curiosity, she has assisted in our Nursery class, heads the Toddler class during the summer, and currently works with our Toddlers for the school year. Miss Danielle has had tremendous experience working with children of various ages, including infants, young toddlers, toddlers, pre-kindergarten, and autistic/learning support. She enjoys playing softball in a local women’s league and supports the interests and hobbies of her 3 children! Danielle lives in Doylestown with her husband of 15 years and three boys.
Miss Josie began at The Toddler Center in 2004. During her time here at Curiosity, she has instructed in our Babies and Toddler programs, and Josie currently works with our Toddler class for the school year, often assisting in all our young programs. She has been a mother for over 20 years and is now a grandmother to two beautiful grandsons - the elder who has joined the Curiosity crew! Miss Josie's experience and nurturing touch has been a wonderful addition to our youngest programs.
Miss Jenn has been a Toddler Center instructor since 1989 and is currently our Toddler Room Head during the school year and our Pool Director during the summer, where she also teaches private and group swimming lessons to various age groups. Miss Jenn is the mother of 3 girls, who attend Curiosity programs and assist our Equestrian Center during our school and summer seasons. As the Toddler room head instructor, Miss Jenn has developed a fantastic curriculum with her creative ideas that allow the children to try something new and explore every day!
Miss Lexie is our newest staff member to the Curiosity team! She began with us in 2016 as one of our Babies Room instructors. She is a graduate of Albright College in Art and has many years of experience working with babies and children of all ages through employment as a nanny, art class instructor, summer camp counselor, youth development professional, swim instructor, and SAAC teacher. She enjoys the arts and we are very excited for her to bring her passion and expertise to our community for our young children to create!
Young Nursery Program
Miss Jane began with us in 1996 and currently heads our Young Nursery classroom. In the past, she has taught children in our Nursery and Toddler programs during the both the school year and summer seasons. Miss Jane is a caring, dedicated, and inspiring member of our staff and truly enjoys watching the children she works with learn and grow.
Miss Leigh joined us in 2010 as a Teacher’s Aide in our Nursery, Pre-Kindergarten, and Kindergarten programs and currently assists the children in our Young Nursery program. She has an Associate in Baking and Pastry Arts. Miss Leigh is a mother of a son and daughter, and has worked as a nanny for over 2 years. Miss Leigh also has experience as a gymnastics coach for children.
Mrs. Dinlocker began teaching at The Curiosity Shoppe in 1982 and has been teaching for over 30 years! She currently assists our Pre-K program, but has also taught Nursery, Kindergarten, and our Kindergarten Enrichment program. Mrs. Dinlocker graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education with a minor in Early Childhood Education from West Chester University. She loves to travel around the world and has visited China, Italy, Ireland, England, Hawaii, and the Caribbean. She is the mother of two children who have both been students here at Curiosity!
Miss Carol began at The Curiosity Shoppe and Toddler Center in 1992, working with a range of children and classrooms, and is currently teaches in our Nursery classroom, working with 3-4 year old children. Miss Carol also began our Sign Language curriculum over 10 years ago and has been instructing sign language for our Toddler through Enriched Kindergarten programs. She is the mother of 4 children who have all grown up here at Curiosity!
Miss Annie has been working with children in educational settings for over 25 years and she will joining our educating team in our Pre-K program. Annie attained her Associates in Arts in Elementary Education from Montgomery County Community College and continued to enhance her education at Gwynedd Mercy College where she achieved her Bachelor of Science in Special Education including her Special Education and Language Arts Instructional Certifications. She is still very interested in furthering her education and has begun a Masters in School Leadership at the University of Scranton. Throughout her education, Annie received numerous honors and awards for her achievements and success. Annie’s passion is working with 4-5 year old students as her last 3 years have been working in a Pre-Kindergarten classroom.We are very excited to have Annie join us in our Pre-Kindergarten classroom and to work with Miss Laura and Miss Loisto continue to provide your children with enriching learning goals and opportunities. Her caring personality and passion for children will allow her to envelope her students with a nurturing, academic, social, hands-on environment.
Miss Laura began working with Camp Curiosity at the end of our 2015-2016 school year and into our 2016 summer camp season, and has continued with us during the school year. Laura achieved her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education and her Pennsylvania teaching certification in 2008 from West Chester University. She previously taught for two years at the Pre-Kindergarten level before being appointed as the director of the early childhood facility where she worked. She also spent a year as a substitute teacher in Quakertown Community School District and spent time there as a first grade long term substitute teacher. Laura and her husband live in Dublin with their daughter and their family's dog!
Miss Lois began at The Curiosity Shoppe in 2011 as our assistant Kindergarten teacher and Enriched Kindergarten teacher and she is now working in our Pre-Kindergarten program. She has her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Lebanon Valley College and has over 31 years of experience teaching Kindergarten and First Grade in the Lebanon County ELCO School District. Lois is a member of the Lebanon County Teacher’s Honor Society and Delta Kippa Gamma, and continues to take additional college credits at Millersville University for Elementary Education. Her years of experience working with young children and her gentle and caring spirit in the classroom helps to create a calming environment for students to learn and grow!
Full Day Kindergarten Program
Mrs. Deputy began with us in 2012 as the Pre-Kindergarten classroom teacher and she is now our full-day Kindergarten teacher! She is a graduate of DeSales University with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education, has acquired an Early Childhood certification for Private Schools, and recently completed her Master of Science in Education with a Reading Specialist Certification from Cabrini College. Mrs. Deputy previously worked in the Souderton Area School District as a Title I Teaching Assistant, Extended Day Kindergarten Teacher for at risk Kindergarten students, and First Grade Long Term Substitute. Her student teaching experience also included fourth grade in the Bethlehem Area School District and first grade at St. Isadore Catholic School in Quakertown. She has been married over 35 years, has three children, and nine grandchildren. Nancy enjoys reading, traveling, and playing with her grandchildren.
Miss Lisa began with us for our 2016-2017 school year as our Kindergarten enrichment teacher. She has a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education from West Chester University. She has taught Pre-K and Kindergarten classes as well as basic skills to first through fourth at Buckingham Elementary School for many years. She has lives in Buckingham for over 18 years with her husband, and they just celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary. She has two wonderful children! Their son, Michael, is 26 years old and a graduate of CB East and James Madison University and is working in Boston. Their daughter, Kara, is 25 years old, a graduate of CB East and East Carolina University and is working in New York City.
Miss Dot began as a Specialty Instructor in the Summer of 2014 and continued with us as the Physical Education Instructor for the school year. Ms Allport has a Bachelor from Texas Tech University. She has 5 years of experience in experiential education beginning with homeschooling her daughter and extended into facilitating workshops and programs for individuals ranging from school age children to small businesses. Her previous experience forms her perspective and focus on community building, communication and cooperation. She continues to expand this by continuing to work with Interpersonal Dynamics on programs focused on leadership, communication, and team building; which at times involves work on high and low ropes courses. Working at the Curiosity Shoppe gives her the opportunity to put into practice every day that fun and play can be a great way to learn to communicate effectively your thoughts and ideas, build community, and learn cooperation.
Miss Wendy began at the Curiosity Shoppe in 2008 as our school session Science Instructor. Wendy has a Bachelor of Science in Wildlife Biology and has experience working at the Long Island Museum of Science from 1996 to 2006, instructing children's educational science programs. She is the mother of two boys who have both attended Curiosity.
Miss Kim began with the Curiosity Shoppe in 2007 as our Music Arts Instructor, including Movement, Instruments, World Languages, Cooking, and Technology. She has her Bachelor of Art in Music from Marywood University. Kim in fluent in German, Spanish, and Korean and can write Korean and Hebrew. She plays flute and keyboards in a worship band in addition to writing music arrangements and parodies. Kim also taught English conversation skills to young children in South Korea for 3 years. She is the mother of two girls.
Mr. Rich started with Curiosity in 1997 as our bookkeeper and pro tennis director. He graduated from Temple University with a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration. Rich was the former head-pro at the Doylestown Tennis Club and Assistant Director of the Arthur Ashe Tennis Center, and was a top-ranked player in the Middle States Area for the 35, 40, 45, 50, and 55 age categories. He is currently certified as a Teaching Professional by the United States Tennis Association (USTA) and continues to coach various tennis programs at Curiosity, including Cardio Tennis, Quick Start (10 and under) Tennis, Beach Tennis, and Little Aces (ages 4 – 6 years) private and group lessons for all ages. He has been married for 33 years and is the father of two daughters who were campers and counselors at Camp Curiosity.
Miss Joan began working with The Curiosity Shoppe in 2008 as our Assistant Director and Younger Camp Head. Joan graduated from the Penn State University College of Human Development with a Bachelor of Science in Individual and Family Studies with an emphasis in Infant and Early Childhood Development. She also holds her Director’s Credential and Private Teaching Certification for Kindergarten from the PA Department of Education. Joan has terrific experience working with children and families in early childhood schools, programs, and facilities as a director, preschool and toddler teacher, and art specialist at the Community Educational Center (CEC), director at Carnegie Family Center, director at Family Resource Infant Center, preschool teacher and assistant director Lawrence Day School, preschool teacher at the Bucks County Academy for Children, and toddler assistant teacher at Creative Beginnings. She is a member of the Occupational Advisory Committee for the Middle Bucks Institute of Technology and the Bucks County Quality Child Care Coalition (QCCC), and an Administrative Assistant for the Bucks County Education of Young Children (BCAEYC).
Miss Caitlin began working as a sports counselor in 2007, art counselor in 2008 & 2009, and taught in the Pre-Kindergarten program in 2009-2010. She married Jeremiah Thomas in 2009 and they now head the facility together, directing the school and summer camp programs at Camp Curiosity year-round. She has her Bachelor of Science in Biology from Delaware Valley College and Master of Science in Early Childhood Education and Leadership. She enjoys horseback riding, taking care of our farm animals, gardening, and spending time with family. Jeremiah and Caitlin's family live on-sight with their two children, Evelyn and William.
Mr. Jeremiah grew up at Curiosity from an infant through his childhood. He is the second generation Director of the Curiosity Programs, as his parents began Curiosity in 1963. He became a camp counselor from 1999 to 2003 when he was promoted to Sports Director, and in 2007 he took over as the Director. He graduated from Gwynedd Mercy College with a Bachelor of Science and Teaching Certification in Elementary and Early Childhood Education with a minor in Music and Spanish. He extended his education and graduated from Delaware Valley College in 2011 with a Master of Science in Educational Leadership and Administration. Jeremiah has tremendous experience through teaching at Bedminster Elementary, Kindergarten, Enriched Kindergarten, and Spanish at The Curiosity Shoppe, 6th grade at Plumstead Christian School, and is now the full time facility Director of Curiosity. Jeremiah is a well-experienced tennis player and coach, playing first singles and doubles through high school and college and coaching the Plumstead Christian Boys Tennis team from 2008 to 2011. He is a Professional Tennis Registry (PTR) certified teaching pro and instructs at Curiosity Courts for children and adults in Cardio Tennis, Quick Start (10 and under) Tennis, Beach Tennis, and private and group lessons.
