In our Toddler program, we will start to focus on structure, sharing, and manners.  We know that while working with growing toddlers, this can be fun and also frustrating as young children often go through milestones that involve unwanted behaviors such as being physical with friends, biting, and tantrums. It is our goal to work with you every step of the way as your toddler grows and develops. It is our utmost goal to communicate with parents on a regular basis, so we provide a daily report of your child’s day including meals, diapering, sleep, and activities. Our experienced educators plan activities to stimulate creativity, to foster a positive self-image, to integrate developmental skills and concepts appropriate for this age. By exposing them to the new ideas, toddlers can explore and investigate, begin to share their own interests, and develop their growing ability to express desires and request information. They will develop strength in their muscles and large motor skills in a safe and supervised setting, small motor skills through manipulative play, and lengthen their ability to focus on tasks through practice. Socialization skills are worked on daily as your child learns to share with other children, to be gentle, and to listen to others. Daily group Circle Time provides the opportunity for toddlers to share any exciting news they wish to convey to the class and begin to work together as a group as well as introducing the calendar, weather, colors, shapes, stories, nursery rhymes, and finger plays. A strong appreciation for nature is developed during fun, educational walks around campus, and visits with our farm animals. Specials include Music, World Adventures, Science, Physical Education, Library, Farm, and Community Service.  

Developmental Goals

Language—Uses words to express needs, recites familiar words and songs, uses naming words for familiar people and objects, recognizing basic colors, learning animal names and sounds, illustrates as age-appropriate, expanding vocabulary.

Mathematics—Counting, reciting numbers 1-10, identifying shapes, sorting objects.

Physical—Learning how to run, jump, gallop, skip, and climbing, working on balance, developing control of fingers and wrists.

Mental—Thinks aloud through talking to self and names things, learns by experimental learning and trial and error, understanding cause and effect, finding alternate solutions, develops short term memory, attention span is lengthening, role playing and pretend play, recalls name / age.

Social—Begins playing with others, sharing, works independently, participation in activities, shows individuality, understands simple commands and directions, making transitions, understanding community roles, following rules.

Emotional— Becoming curious and enjoys attention, may cling to familiar adults and show anxiety with strangers, may reacts to stress with emotional outbursts, developing self-control.

Self-Reliance—Washing hands, dressing, self-feeding, using open cup independently, cleaning up, sitting at table/chair.

We offer part time and full time enrollment for extended days 7-6, full day 9-4, and half days 9-1 for children in our Toddler program. We plan the schedules for our programs based on the full time week and staff availability. We cannot guarantee that a part time child will receive all specials and activities. Half day enrollment is limited for each program.
