Our kick off to Farm Education at Camp Curiosity began with Tractors, Farm Machinery and Corn! From front loaders and back hoes to horse trailers and hand plows, students learned about various tractors and work equipment that do different jobs around the farm. We even painted with various wheeled vehicles! Our discussion on corn raised the question: What do we use corn for? Yummy snacks, art supplies like crayons and glue, ethanol fuel, and even diapers can have corn products. A sensory box full of corn kernels gave students the opportunity to touch and feel while playing, and an antique corn sheller allowed children to each try shelling a dried corn cob using the 200 year old machine.
