Horsemanship Camp is offered for campers entering Grades 2-10, and includes mounted and unmounted lessons. Every 2 weeks horse shows are scheduled for campers to showcase their learned skills. Curiosity Stables at Camp Curiosity located in Bucks County, PA provides horseback riding lessons all year with our indoor riding ring. The goal of our lessons are to instill the responsibilities of equine care and management while nurturing the compassion and love for horses and riding.
Riders will have a full understanding of the determination and perseverance it takes to achieve success in the challenges of riding and the importance of maintaining the utmost safety on and around the horse. Horsemanship skills, mounted horseback instruction, and unmounted teaching is all part of our lesson program.
We have instructors that specialize in each English and Western riding styles. Walk, Trot, Canter, Jumping, Intro to Showing, Etiquette, Showmanship, and Maintenance of Horses are all important aspects learned and progressed as riders feel comfortable and ready to advance their riding level.
Chris Kelly recently returned to her native Pennsylvania after living for 25 years in Colorado where she pursued numerous western equine disciplines, competing in cutting, reining, reined cow, trail and even roping. In Colorado she also served as the executive director of a summer rodeo series for 10 years, overseeing all aspects of the weekly event. In addition she was the director of a therapeutic riding center that served children and adults with various physical, neurological and emotional issues. Her early training was in English riding and she is currently taking polo lessons. She also volunteers at Last Chance Ranch Equine Rescue. She is editor/production manager of a national horse magazine, Working Horse, which focuses on horse breeding, training and competition. She enjoys sharing her love of horses and riding with students of all ages and riding disciplines.
Lauren is a Junior at Bloomsburg University studying Special/Early Childhood education and psychology. While at school she serves as the co-captain of the Bloomsburg Equestain Team and the Service Chair of the Student Council for Exceptional Chrildren.
Lauren has been riding and showing horses since she was 5 years old. She has riding and show experience in hunters, jumpers, equitation, eventing, western and dressage. Riding and being around horses has always been a passion of Lauren's and she is eager to share her passion with as many people as possible.
After college Lauren apires to manage her own therapeutic equestrian center and be an educator in an emotional support classroom.
